Calgary is beginning to acquire a reputation for the city’s propensity for building tall buildings. Calgary’s skyline is slowly being populated by high rises which offers tourists a better and taller view of the whole of Calgary.
The many skyscrapers in Calgary are evident of the ongoing economic boom in the city. Some of these skyscrapers are becoming symbols of a city that has been to a bumpy ride economically but has managed to get back on top.
The skyscraper boom in Calgary may be new to a lot of people but it has started as early as the 1950s only to be halted during the recession in the 1980s. The major resurgence of Calgary’s economy in the late 1980s has once again led to the construction of major high rise buildings in the city.
